- About the author
The layout is simple large text on one page with a full page photo on the facing page.
The pictures begin with three very blue eggs in a nest, followed by a mother sitting on them, and then three very hungry babies squawking for food. We get a great picture of mom with a bug and then shots of the babies as they get older and fledge... and finally have babies of their own.
THE SKINNY:::
I like this little book. At the AR 1.3 level, it makes for a good, informative practice reader for children. Not only are the pictures engaging, but the book clearly shows children how the babies develop -- growing feathers and fledging -- as well as how babies become adults, who in turn have their own babies.
