Urban Babies Wear Black strikes me as a book that is meant more for expectant moms and dads than for baby. It's cute, mind you, but not in a 'for baby' sense. What, after all, do babies know of yoga and architecture. No, to me this is a book that is meant to get smiles and chuckles at a baby shower.
Considerations:::
My 9 y.o. daughter is the one who found this book at the library and she thought it was hysterical. I also thought it was amusing, and think it would make a cute shower gift. (No Accelerated Reading number available.)
The construction of the book, by the way, seems good and sturdy. My hesitation in suggestion it as a book for babies and toddlers is the subject matter --too adult-- and the artwork which is not in a color scheme or style that would most appeal to any of the babies I've known.
