Chicken cheeks...
Turkey tushie...
Duck-billed platypus gluteus maximus!
CHICKEN CHEEKS is a goofy pleasure and the type of book whose principal merit is that it is a quick read that provides some chuckles.
The artwork by Kevin Hawkes is great. You might know him from "The Librarian Who Measured the Earth", "Weslandia", and "Velma Gratch". He provides equally wonderful drawings in CHICKEN CHEEKS, and he and Mr. Black sure had my kids chuckling.
Five Star art. Three Star concept. This is an entertaining book, but to be truthful it doesn't have what I think of as 'longevity'. That is, its not a book to read over and over for years to come, so I suggest you check it out at the library before considering it as a purchase.
