If
you've got a child who likes the Diego series, you might consider
picking this book up at the library in order to reinforce what they have
learned from the show.
CONS
PROS
I wouldn't suggest anyone purchase this book, but there's no reason not to get it from the library. Adults who have seen the show can fill-in-the-blanks and remind children of the characteristics that allow the desert animals to survive. We can also talk to them about different cultures using Medina as an example, and we can discuss the wonders of the pyramids and Egyptian history.
For younger children you can practice counting the scorpions, pyramids, and camels.

CONS
- There is very little animal information in this book. There's nothing about the Desert Foxes and Sand Cats, for example, only a little bit about camels.
- The book's sort of a dull read unless you make it interesting.
PROS
- This book actually has a coherent story and the artwork is nice.
