Sometimes we worry when we don't know what to expect, and that's Wemberly's problem when it comes to school. She's not a mouse that enjoys new situations anyway --she's something of an excessive worrier-- so she begins to wonder what she'll do if her school room smells, or what will happen if no one else brings a doll, or if she's the only one who wears stripes, or heaven forbid, what will happen if she can't find the bathroom.

And that's why this book is so nice. Because we adults can sit with a child who might be a bit worried about some upcoming event, and we can point out that things tend to work out just fine.    That adults are aware that little people need help and direction and that adults are prepared to help.  Wemberly, after all, had a great day.  People showed her where the bathroom was and in the end she couldn't wait to go back to school the next day.

This book can be a little trickier to use with a child that's a 'real worrier', but you can do it if you point out that Wemberly's other worries were overblown too.

A good read-aloud. Wemberly Worried can also be used to point out all the fun things that there are to do at preschool--like playing with toys, playing outside, and making music.
