Where is Baby's Dreidel? by Karen Katz

There aren't a great many resources to use with older babies and toddlers that introduce them to things like menorahs, latkes, and dreidels. This is where Where is Baby's Dreidel? comes in. It is a colorful boardbook that has fun flaps to lift and a focus on things Hanukkah.

Here's the opening lines:

It's Hanukkah! Where is Baby's dreidel?
Is it behind the curtains?

[curtains are lifted]

No! Here's our menorah!

THE SKINNY:::
This lift-the-flap book focuses on naming articles that babies/toddlers don't see every day. It could also be used to discuss colors and things like curtains that older babies might not know the names of.

The cover has a dreidel in eye catching metallics. And Karen Katz' inside artwork is colorful and baby/toddler friendly.

Activities (what you'll find inside):
Under the curtains there is a menorah.

Under the table there are the candles.
Behind the egg carton there are potato pancakes.
Behind grandma's apron there's a present.

Behind the fruit bowl there's a bag of gold coins.

Baby finally finds the dreidel in the living room along with all the items mentioned thus far.

Obviously this isn't a book for everyone or even everyday, but if you are looking for boardbook that will entertain older babies and toddlers and teach them that menorahs, candles, potato pancakes, presents, gold coins, and dreidels are associated with Hanukkah, then give this one a try.
