Cinderella at the Ball by Margaret Hillert

bookcover of Cinderella at the Ball

I love! Margaret Hillert's books. The reason I'm so enthusiastic about them is that her books tell complete stories and that gives children a real sense of accomplishment when they can read them from beginning to end.

"Cinderella at the Ball" is a wonderful primer and the first book which really engaged my daughter when she was beginning to read. The fact that it was one of her favorite stories at the time really motivated her to 'get the hang of this reading thing'.

The amazing thing is that Margaret Hillert manages to tell the story using only 44 unique words, 269 words total.

"You!
You go to the ball!
Oh, not you.
You look funny.
And you can not come."

It's simple language that she uses, but along with Janet LaSalle's illustrations the Cinderella story gets told.

THE TECHNICAL BITS:::
