Well, you can probably guess from the cover what this little boy got for his birthday. Yes, he got a little red car.
Father said, "Look, look.
Here is something for you."
Oh, oh, oh.
A little red car.
The story is one of the simplest I've seen in Ms. Hillert's collection. It basically involves boys in cars and wagons 'going' around town. The text talks about colors and up-and-down. It ends with an all boy party at the child's house.
I'm not particular enthused with this text, but we've talked it over and am going to include it on our site as part of our overall We Love Margaret Hillert Theme. Besides the lovely red pedal car is likely to resonant with some child somewhere and incite them to read.

The most challenging word is something, blue, yellow, and house. The rest mainly come from the standard Margaret Hillert list (hover here).
