Loved  THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST!  In fact, at GoodReads and elsewhere I gave it 5-Stars.

I like the stylized, archaic style in which it was told; and I loved the fact that it was well structured with twists and turns, with an intelligent plot that held several curious puzzles, which were all cleverly dealt with by the end of the book.

That said, some people are not going to like this book. If you think Dan Brown's books are the height of good writing, then you probably won't like this Gothic-styled novel. If you like all of your characters, except the bad guys, squeaky clean, you won't like this book, because the people in it are all too human, with faults as well as assets.

If, however, you like Sherlock Holmes and Stephen King, and you think that it might be interesting to mix the two styles and types of adventures then you will probably adore this book.

Summary Thoughts
THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST is a well written book that I recommend to adults and young adults who like good writing and a scary read. With a nice archaic tone -- think Sherlock Holmes-- there is no bad language, nor unseemly 'adult situations'.

There is, however, a great HUGE amount of violence. Yes, violence, gore and pus. The overly sensitive might want to hold back. The rest of you are in for a great read.
