This work is a lesson guide for the wonderful children's book Nuni of Nunivak Island, A New Friend. P.J. Nickels has given us a very valuable work tool with this guide and it enhances what is already a wonderful bit of children's literature.
This 41 page guide includes:
- Background information covering areas such as geography, science, history, mathematics and art.
- A very comprehensive teachers guide to this work.
- Quite a number of worksheets and projects for the children to work with, including search projects, drawings, hand puppets, and a very nice mobile project, among others.
This entire guide is written in a precise manner and is quite informative and usable. It includes dozens of ideas for class projects which the teacher or adult guide can use to further the child's knowledge of the subject being covered. Taking a close look at these various projects; both those illustrated in the book and those suggested, they simply look and feel fun! I read through the guide, worked some of the activities and found that I had actually gained quite a lot of knowledge in a very pain free and enjoyable way. to be honest, the quality and thoroughness of this study guide is far and above most of this sort of thing I have used and been exposed to in the past.
This guide also includes color prints form Nuni of Nunivak Island, A New Friend which is makes it even more of a pleasure to work with. The entire project is quite professionally done and if Nuni of Nunivak Island, A New Friendis to be used as a teaching tool, then this work will be more than helpful in doing so.
This is ideal for the classroom and would fit perfectly into most home schooling programs. I do highly recommend this one.
