Statement of Purpose

We feel that one of the greatest gifts that can be given a child is the love of books and the love of reading. This love adds so much to the quality of their lives, and well, lasts a life time. We have also noted, as both of us are fanatical students of history, that for the most part, all great men and women, those movers and shakers of our world, have all had at least one thing in common…most of them have been voracious readers. We feel that you cannot start children on the path of reading and the love of books young enough.

There are literally thousands upon thousands of children’s books available to the parent, teacher, child, grand parent, et al. Many of these books are quite obscure. Many of these books have been out of print for years. In this blog we are going to attempt to review as many of these that we can lay our hands on and as many as we can read. We of course will never be able to cover them all, but hey, you have to start somewhere! Many of these obscure and out of print works are worth saving and the next generation needs to be aware of them. A lost book is a sad thing.

There are thousands of new children’s books being constantly published, some good, some not so good. We will also attempt to address as many of those as possible. When a good work is turned out, it is a down right pity that many people simply are never aware of them, if for no other reason, there are just so many of them.

If you know of, or remember from your childhood, one of those special books let us know and we will make every attempt to locate it, read it, and give our opinion. We welcome publishers and self publishers, and will be more than glad to give your work a balanced review. We can be contacted at

You should know that most of the books we review will be "kid tested". By that we mean that the books will be read to either individual children or to groups of children. We feel that their endorsement is the best endorsement of all.
